Phil
Vassallo holds a B.A. in English from Baruch College, an M.S. in education
from Lehman College, and a doctorate in educational theory from Rutgers
University. He has taught writing for Cornell University, Kean University,
and Middlesex County College. More than 100 of his poems have appeared
in various print journals and in websites, including Open Sewer, Identity
Theory, Moongate Internationale, Ludlow Press, Red Booth Review, Red River
Review, Outerbridge, Chaminade Literary Review, Rustlings of the Wind,
(this) poetry site, Cyber Oasis, Catalyzer, Eotu, Snakeskin, Fluid Ink
Press, Wilmington Blues, PoetrySuperHighway, Southern Ocean Review, Atomic
Petals, still, Twelfth Planet, Electric Acorn, Poetry Webring, Some Words,
Lucid Moon, Spoken War, Librium Implant, Artistic Wasteland, and Decathlon2000.
He has also published over 100 articles as a freelance journalist and
essayist. His column on education issues, "The Learning Class,"
has appeared in various newspapers and magazines across the nation and
on EducationNews.org. In addition, he writes a column on writing issues,
"Words on the Line," which appears in etc., the journal of the
International Society for General Semantics. Seven of his plays have been
produced Off-Off Broadway, and he was a recipient of a New Jersey State
Council on the Arts playwriting fellowship and a finalist in three national
