A Village Voice
by
Braudis Lee Pegram
It may be New York,
But we are all avant-garde now.
The Earth is Greenwich Village.
Time has made us all so cool.
In our dull spiritual curiosity,
In our religious technological brilliance
We are right today,
Wrong tomorrow.
Extraordinary ideas like H.G. Wells,
Actions like the common roach…
We have been here awhile,
Feeding on tradition,
Regurgitating the new,
Living in the feces of innovation,
Political prostitution, capital gains
And all that jazz,
Dying the same tested ways.
We are Cunningham rehearsing dance
With old, old steps…
Read about it.
