Opensewer Gatherings (“OSG”) are in-real-life discussion salons for people who are dissatisfied with the low level of intellectual curiosity and meaningful dialogue in America today. We are active-minded individuals who gather in several different cities three or four times per year for raucous, meaningful discussion. While we’re at it, we sometimes enjoy a beverage. You are welcome to join us.

Critical thinking and time spent looking inward do not seem to be part of contemporary American life. So often it seems that if one’s daily activities do not constantly promote the movement of little green pieces of paper (read: money) from one place to another, those activities are not considered valuable. Today, in America, it’s all work and all play. We ask: Where is the place for the mind and soul? Where is the space between labor and relaxation dedicated to personal growth?

Opensewer consists of a wonderful mix of people from all walks of life. We’re not all young, we’re not all hip, and some of us have never even used a computer. But we all have energy, life and introspection. We live for a good discussion. We enjoy the diverse community that grows from our collective intellectual meanderings.

Every minute you spend thinking and sharing your thoughts with others is a minute that your soul is improving. It is a minute that you didn't spend at the mall. It is a minute that you didn't spend watching television.

Would you like to be a part of a something that attempts to transcend the mundane commercial monoculture of contemporary American existence? Then join up. Think for yourself, and take the opportunity to tell others—face to face—what you think. We understand that it’s nice and comfy where you are, but it’s time to stop feeding the lowest common denominator. It’s time to wake your soul up. We’ll try to help.

No promises, though. Too much “reality television” may have put you beyond hope already…
