We had five attendees at the first OS gathering in Boston, six if you count the spirit of Frank Sinatra pictured at right. For all of you time-pressed people out there, the following is an executive summary of Opensewer 10 Boston. The key points we discussed were:

- The role of the US in the Middle East

- U.S. foreign policy

- Capitalism and democracy

- The history of the Middle East and the U.S. role in this history

- Selling the "American Dream"--a bit of a tie-in to Opensewer 9

- The "War on Terrorism"

- The Islamic/Jewish conflict

- The role of "soft money," campaign finance reform and lobbyists

- Oil and money and its role in the conflict

- Education and the media: their role in perception

It was a good first gathering. The seed is planted here...now let's see how it grows.

Note: Sara attended the very first OS gathering in Cleveland (which had four attendees). Now she's blazing new trails...
